Portfolio of energy-efficient industrial warehouses with ties to the local community
Engagement with local schools
AEPM has a longstanding history of supporting the communities in which our assets operate, particularly in relation to engagement with local schools. Community engagement is important for AEPM’s North West Industrial Warehouse Portfolio, which comprises over 1 million sq ft of industrial warehouse space across 34 locations in the North East and North West of the UK.
As part of the redevelopment of a 14-acre industrial site, AEPM and our operating partner engaged with students from Harrop Fold Secondary School in Little Hulton to choose a new name for the site. Raven Locks was chosen as the worthy winner, influenced by the road name and historic network of underground canals that boarder the site. For their creativity and hard work, the winning students were awarded Amazon vouchers and a donation was also made to the Harrop Fold student council to contribute to IT upgrades. A representative from the development team also participated in the school’s 2019 World of Work careers day, where they presented to 150 students aged between 12 and 13 on job opportunities in the property industry as well as provided students with virtual experience of working in construction using educational machine simulators.
Developing energy efficient buildings
As part of the AEPM’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, all industrial development sites have been designed with sustainability at the forefront of the process, with BREEAM “Very Good” or BREEAM “Excellent” qualifications being targeted. BREEAM is the World’s leading environmental rating and sustainability assessment tool for buildings, and the BREEAM assessment focuses on sustainable value and efficiency throughout a number of lifecycle stages, including new construction, refurbishment and in-use. An example of this is that our developments are designed to enable electric vehicle cabling and charging points to be easily installed in the future to support the take-up of electric vehicle fleets by logistics tenants.
